You may qualify for FREE eye surgery!

The Roanoke Valley Center for Sight, in conjunction with Vistar Eye Center, are offering a special opportunity for individuals who have no insurance and need eye surgery. The screening and surgery will be free of charge to individuals who qualify for the program.

What is the Gift of Sight Program?

The Gift of Sight program is offered by Roanoke Valley Center for Sight (RVCS) and Vistar Eye Center it provides free or reduced-cost ocular surgeries for patients in need. Run entirely by dedicated volunteers from RVCS and Vistar Eye Center, this program offers an opportunity to give back to those who need it most making a compassionate impact on our community.

Bi-Annual

The Gift of Sight Program is offered twice a year.

Volunteer-Based

Roanoke Valley Center for Sight and Vistar staff volunteer their time and service.

Patient Evaluations

Patient evaluations will occur at Vistar Eye Center.

Patient Surgeries

Patient surgeries will occur at Roanoke Valley Center for Sight.

Referring Optometrists

Referring Optometrists can choose to participate by providing co-management service.

Partnership

The Gift of Sight Program is made possible through a partnership between RVCS and Vistar Eye Center.

What are the qualifications?

Patients who are economically disadvantaged
Patients without insurance can apply
Applies to medical services and surgeries only (no glasses, contacts, cosmetic services, or specialty IOL’s)
Patients can qualify for 50% or 100% assistance based on household income
Insurance deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurances are all covered
Patients must provide copies of household income, bills, W-2, and latest tax return
Good from the date of approval forward for one year not retroactive (exceptions for emergent cases may apply)
Patients must reside in Vistar Eye Center's service area
